All
of our tea bags are made from a 100% plant-based material called polylactic
acid. PLA for short. PLA is produced by breaking down the
starches in GMO-free plant sources.
It’s
not petroleum-based, so our tea bags will never leak harmful plasticizers into
your tea. Better yet: PLA doesn’t even break down in your hot water, so you
won’t ingest anything at all. (It takes 2 months at 120*F and 80% humidity in a
commercial-quality compost system for PLA to biodegrade.)
Some
other great things about PLA: it's BPA-free, phthalate-free,allergen-free
and hypoallergenic.
